What this lesson covers

  1. 01

Segment the procedure, keep the order

Learners handle a long procedure better in learner-paced pieces than as one continuous stream. Production often hears "pieces" and builds a carousel. That is the wrong layout when the pieces have a required order. Use a carousel only when each card is a peer.

  2. 02

    What each process step needs

A process strip that lists step names teaches the names. For each step, a useful strip shows: the action in a verb, the cue that tells you the step is done ("the indicator goes dark"), and the most common error at that step. That turns a list into a job aid that also supports the practice. Keep each step short enough to read on a phone without scrolling.

  3. 03

    Upgrade one strip

Take one process in your course and add the cue and common error to each step. Follow it with an order activity that has a tap alternative.
