CEPD · Module 1 — Production systems and SAM sprints
Allen's Successive Approximation Model is a production rhythm. ADDIE remains a useful checklist. Prototypes exist to make decisions.

01
If the course will run in Arabic, design with logical properties from the first prototype: margin-inline and padding-inline instead of left and right, text alignment by start and end, and layouts that follow the dir attribute. Process arrows that only point right will mislead in Arabic. Numerals, punctuation and narration are QC items, not afterthoughts.
02
Mirror | Do not mirror
Layout order, navigation, Back and Next positions | Media playback controls (play, rewind)
Process arrows and timelines | Clocks and charts with a numeric x-axis, unless redesigned
Progress bars | Logos and brand marks
Icons that imply direction (reply, forward) | Images of real objects, such as a car's steering wheel side
03
Mirroring the English build is enough. — Mirroring moves elements; it does not rebalance visual weight, fix mixed-direction text or translate meaning.
Arabic is just a font change. — Arabic needs taller line height, no letter-spacing (it breaks letter joining), and its own type scale.
Machine translation is fine if someone skims it. — Skimming misses register, terminology and scenario realism. Assign a native reviewer who knows the domain.
04
Scenarios fail in translation more than any other content. A customer called "Mike" who interrupts his manager may read as unrealistic or disrespectful in a Saudi or Egyptian workplace. Transcreation changes names, settings, register and sometimes the conflict itself, while keeping the decision and the preferred path identical. Write the scenario brief once (decision, pressure, consequences) and let each language write its own scene from it. QC checks that the decision and the scoring are identical across languages.

Add an RTL section to your production plan: the mirroring rules from slide 2, the bidi checks from slide 4, who reviews the Arabic, and the pronunciation list owner.
