Free instructional design certificate in Arabic and English: what CDLA actually teaches

Most “free instructional design certificates” online are either a short vendor tour or a university teaser that locks the credential behind a paid exam. Who the free instructional design certificate is for

CDLA — Certified Digital Learning Architect — is built for people who already sit near the work: instructional designers, LXD practitioners, and academy curriculum leads. It is not a career-switch bootcamp and it is not a substitute for a graduate degree. If your job is to stop starting with “we need a course,” this is the track.

If you produce Storyline packages, games, or Studio formats and want craft rather than architecture, use the sibling program CEPD instead. Many practitioners do both. Read the CEPD guide when production is the bottleneck.

What you earn (and what you do not)

Pass an open module gate at 80% and Innovito stores a module certificate of mastery on your academy profile. Finish the open modules and you can issue the program certificate. Both are printable PDFs with your name, the program or module title, a unique code, and the issue date.

They do not replace ATD APTD/CPTD, CIPD, or a university credential. We keep that sentence on the catalog, on the certificate, and in a dedicated comparison so employers are not misled and so you are not either.

The five open CDLA modules

The designed program is eight modules / 16 weeks / 96 learner hours. Modules 6–8 are still in production. What you can study now:

1. Performance consulting and action mapping. Diagnose the performance problem before you storyboard. Start with The training-first trap.
2. Learning science for digital media. Cognitive load, Mayer’s multimedia principles (cited, not slogans), retrieval practice. A public outline lives on Words and graphics.
3. Outcomes and authentic assessment. Backward design and LTEM evidence tiers before another quiz bank.
4. Pathway and blend architecture. Curriculum maps, push/pull/practice, and prerequisites that are not a playlist.
5. Interaction design for transfer. Scenarios and branching that rehearse decisions, not topic coverage.

Each module ends in a scored gate. The gate stays behind a free account so answers are not public. Teaching notes on open lessons are readable without signing in so you can decide if the program is worth the time.

How to earn the certificate

1. Open the CDLA program page and create a free academy account.
2. Work the lessons in order. Progress saves to your profile so you can resume on another device.
3. Score 80% on the module gate. Print or save the PDF from your profile.

There is no tuition and no proctored exam. There is also no Open Badges 3.0 employer verification yet — that is on the roadmap, not live.

Arabic and English in the same curriculum

Live lessons ship in both languages. Use the header language switcher; your certificate uses the name on your academy profile. If you work in a GCC or North Africa academy, that bilingualism is the product, not a translation pass after the fact.
